Airport taxis: how the meter works
Yellow taxis wait at the rank outside the terminal around the clock. Fares run on the meter: the flag fall is about €1.50 and each kilometre costs roughly €1–1.20, with the same tariff day and night. A ride to Bodrum centre ends up in the €45–55 band depending on traffic; crossing to the far west of the peninsula — Yalıkavak or Turgutreis — can push the bill to €80.
The thing to watch is the exchange rate: the meter shows Turkish lira, and if you agree a euro price with the driver, the rounding rarely favours the passenger. Make sure the meter is running and pay in small notes where you can.
The MUTTAŞ shuttle: cheap, but with a change
MUTTAŞ, run by the Muğla metropolitan municipality, times its buses to flight arrivals and links the airport with Bodrum bus station. A ticket costs about €6–8 per person and the trip takes 50–60 minutes.
The real cost starts after the bus station: to reach your hotel in Gümbet, Bitez or Yalıkavak you need a second taxi or a dolmuş minibus. For a family with luggage that change costs both time and comfort — and late at night the dolmuş services thin out.

Which option makes sense for you?
Travelling solo, light and in daylight? The MUTTAŞ-plus-dolmuş combination is the cheapest way in. A taxi is a practical middle ground if you would rather not plan ahead; but for a family of four a private transfer (€63 to the centre, under €16 a head) costs only a little more than the taxi and buys a great deal more comfort: fixed price, name board, luggage space and no change at the bus station.
The gap widens after midnight: shuttles thin out, the taxi queue grows, while a fixed-price transfer has your car ready at the terminal door.
