Pamukkale Transfer

The closest airport to Pamukkale is Denizli Çardak (DNZ): in the Çardak district 65 km east of Denizli city, 65 km and about 50 minutes from Pamukkale, from €96 with GET4S. Turkish Airlines flies 3 times a day from Istanbul Airport and AJet daily from Sabiha Gökçen, a flight of about 1 hour 10 minutes. A transfer to Denizli city centre is 63 km and 53 minutes, from €93.

For those arriving on a direct flight from Europe there are three options: Dalaman (DLM) via Muğla, Kale and Tavas, 200 km and 2 hours 45 minutes, from €241; Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB) via Aydın, 233 km and 2.5 hours, from €279; Antalya (AYT) over the mountains via Korkuteli and Acıpayam, 249 km and 3 hours 10 minutes, from €297. All prices are per vehicle and include tolls; groups of 7 to 16 travel by Sprinter minibus.

Entry to Pamukkale is €30 in 2026 and covers the travertines, the ancient city of Hierapolis and the Archaeology Museum. In the summer season (April to October) the south gate is open 06:30 to 21:00 and the north gate 08:00 to 21:00; in winter (November to March) both gates open 08:00 to 18:00. Shoes come off on the travertines and you walk barefoot; in July and August the midday heat passes 35 degrees, so a sunset visit is the better choice.

Cleopatra's Antique Pool is a separate ticket: in 2026, 600 TL for visitors over 12, 300 TL for ages 7 to 12, free under 6; bring a swimsuit and a towel. In Hierapolis the theatre, the necropolis and the Martyrium of St Philip sit above the travertines; the whole visit takes 3 to 4 hours. Ticket desks take cards, cash is paid in Turkish lira.

On a day visit with a return to the airport or hotel, the driver waits at the travertine car park and brings you back the same day; waiting time and the return are added as a return booking, with 5% off. Landing at Denizli Çardak in the morning, visiting Pamukkale and catching an evening flight is realistic: 50 minutes each way and 3 to 4 hours on site.

A same-day return from Antalya, Dalaman or Izmir means 5 to 6 hours on the road; it can be done with an early start, but a night in Pamukkale village or in Karahayıt, 5 km away with thermal-pool hotels, and the travertines at sunset is more comfortable. Hotels are in the village and in Karahayıt; the driver takes you to the hotel door. Pamukkale also works as a stopover on the way to Cappadocia.

There is no direct public transport from Denizli Çardak Airport to Pamukkale: the airport shuttle goes to Denizli bus station, where you change to a Pamukkale minibus, about 2 hours in total. Coming by coach from Izmir, Antalya or Dalaman takes more than 4 hours, again with a change in Denizli. Airport taxis run on the meter and the fare is not known in advance; a private transfer has a fixed price at booking and goes to the hotel door.

The driver waits at the arrivals exit with a name board; Antalya Airport has Terminal 1 and 2, Izmir and Dalaman separate domestic and international terminals, and the driver comes to the right one based on the flight number in your booking. If the flight is late the pickup time moves automatically, and 60 minutes of waiting after landing is free; pickups between 22:00 and 06:00 carry a 20% night tariff. Vehicles are air-conditioned and the times given are traffic-free averages.
