Şanlıurfa Airport Transfer

Şanlıurfa GAP Airport (GNY) is about 35 km north-east of the city centre and takes domestic flights from Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir. With GET4S the Balıklıgöl area and the central hotels are 37 km and about 38 minutes, from €65; the Karaköprü hotels fall in the same price band. The Göbeklitepe Visitor Centre is 50 km and 49 minutes from the airport, from €84; if you want to see Göbeklitepe straight off the plane and go to the hotel afterwards, the driver waits during the visit and the onward leg is added to a return booking.

The Havaş shuttle and the municipal bus go to the city centre (the municipal bus a few times a day); there is no direct public transport from the airport to Göbeklitepe. Airport taxis run on the meter. Harran, with its domed mud-brick houses and the ruins of the Great Mosque, is about 45 km south-east of the centre and is a day trip from the hotel. Göbeklitepe is about 15 to 20 km north-east of Şanlıurfa city centre, near the village of Örencik; inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018 and dated to around 9500 BC, it is the oldest known monumental temple site in the world. Opening hours are 08:30 to 19:00 in summer (1 April to 31 October) and 08:30 to 17:00 in winter. Vehicles go as far as the Visitor Centre car park; private cars cannot enter the excavation area, and free shuttle minibuses run frequently from the visitor centre to the site in a few minutes. Tickets are bought at the visitor centre, MüzeKart is accepted, and the foreign visitor ticket is €20 in 2026.

The driver waits in the car park throughout the visit; seeing the site takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. In July and August temperatures regularly exceed 40 degrees (the July average high is 38.8 degrees); the site is open ground with little shade, so visit between 08:30 and 11:00 and carry water. The Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum, where the Göbeklitepe finds are displayed, is in the city centre, and on the way back the driver can drop you at the museum entrance.

Your driver waits at the arrivals exit with a name board; if your flight is late the pick-up time moves automatically, and waiting is free for 60 minutes after landing.
