For Kalkan, Dalaman Airport (DLM) is the clear winner: 110 km and roughly 100 minutes by road, versus about 210 km and 3 hours 15 minutes from Antalya (AYT). For Kaş the gap narrows — 150 km from Dalaman against roughly 195 km from Antalya — but Dalaman still comes out ahead on journey time and transfer cost in almost every summer scenario.

All figures assume a private car in normal traffic. After a four-hour flight from the UK, the two-hour difference is what decides whether you reach your villa in time for dinner — or well after the kids have fallen asleep in the back.
Flights: DLM in season, AYT in winter
From late April to the end of October, Dalaman is exceptionally well served from the UK — direct flights operate from London Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow with easyJet, Jet2, British Airways and TUI. Domestic connections via Istanbul run year-round.
Antalya, Türkiye’s busiest holiday airport, keeps a broad network going all twelve months. Between November and March direct UK–Dalaman flights all but disappear, while Antalya retains winter service. For an off-season trip to Kalkan or Kaş, that can outweigh the longer drive.
Road quality and comfort
The Dalaman–Kalkan route runs past Ortaca and the Fethiye bypass, then drops into the Eşen valley — well-surfaced dual carriageway and sweeping D400 curves most of the way. It is the gentler drive of the two, which matters if anyone in the car suffers from motion sickness.
The Antalya–Kalkan route threads through Kemer, Kumluca, Finike and Demre: spectacular coastal scenery, but long winding cliffside stretches where summer traffic easily pushes the trip past 3½ hours. Beautiful as a scenic day drive; tiring as an airport transfer.

The verdict, scenario by scenario
Summer holiday (May–October): Dalaman, no contest. Shorter drive, cheaper transfer, plenty of direct flights.
Winter escape (November–March): Antalya moves ahead — you are far more likely to find a direct flight. Alternative: connect via Istanbul into Dalaman.
Two-centre trip (Antalya city + Kalkan): fly into Antalya, enjoy the old town for a few days, take a one-way transfer to Kalkan, then fly home from Dalaman.
