Erzurum Airport sits in the Aziziye district at an altitude of 1,757 m, about 12 km from the city centre and roughly 16 km from the Palandöken hotel zone. Palandöken Ski Resort is 7 km southwest of Erzurum city centre, with slopes between 2,200 m and 3,176 m and the hotel area at the base. It has 22 pistes, 5 chairlifts and 1 gondola (Ejder 3200), and its longest piste reaches 3,810 m, the second longest in Türkiye. The Ejder and Kapıkaya pistes are Olympic standard, with runs up to 12 km and a 1,100 m vertical drop, and there is illuminated night skiing. The facilities were renovated for the 2011 Winter Universiade, and the resort is open 24 hours.

Hotels such as Dedeman, Polat, Sway and Xanadu Snow White sit right at the foot of the slopes in ski-in/ski-out positions, and the driver takes you to the hotel door. Public transport is limited: the Havaş service and the municipal bus go to Erzurum city centre, but there is no direct service from the airport to the Palandöken hotels, so you would first go to the centre and then change to a minibus for the hotel area.
