Palandöken ski resort lies 7 km southwest of Erzurum city centre and 16 km by road from the airport; the GET4S transfer takes about 25 minutes and starts at €40 per vehicle. The road passes through the city and the final climb to the hotel zone is short and paved; winter tyres are compulsory on snow days and our vehicles carry winter tyres and chains from 15 November to 15 April.
Hotels such as Dedeman, Polat, Sway and Xanadu Snow White sit right at the foot of the pistes with ski-in/ski-out access, and your driver drops you at the hotel door. There is no direct public transport from the airport to Palandöken: the Havaş shuttle and city bus go to the centre, then you change to a hotel-zone minibus. Airport taxis run on the meter; for two people with ski bags a fixed-price Vito is usually the better deal.
Palandöken ski season, pistes and night skiing
Palandöken's pistes run between 2,200 m and 3,176 m with 22 runs, 5 chairlifts and the Ejder 3200 gondola. The Ejder and Kapıkaya runs are Olympic standard, up to 12 km long with 1,100 m of vertical, and the resort was rebuilt for the 2011 Winter Universiade. Snow usually arrives in late October and lasts on the upper slopes into early May, one of the longest seasons in Turkey.
Floodlit pistes allow night skiing. January and February are the snowiest months; the school half-term (late January) and weekends fill the hotels, so book the transfer together with your flight for those dates. Ski equipment travels free; up to 4 people with ski bags fit in one Vito, larger groups take a minibus.
