Istanbul Airport to Çanakkale (Gallipoli / Troy) Transfer

After landing you have 60 minutes of free waiting time, and if your flight is delayed the pickup moves automatically at no extra charge. From there it is one direct drive of 298.8 km to Canakkale, with a rest stop at a service area on long routes if you ask for one.

Istanbul Airport to Canakkale city centre is 298.8 km by road and takes about 206 minutes in average, traffic-free conditions. The route leaves Istanbul on the Northern Marmara Motorway (O-7) without entering city traffic, continues via the Malkara-Canakkale motorway and crosses the Dardanelles on the 1915 Canakkale Bridge, opened on 18 March 2022. No ferry is needed, and the bridge and motorway tolls are included in the price.

Istanbul traffic is heaviest on weekdays between 07:30 and 10:00 and between 17:00 and 20:30, when 20 to 40 minutes can be added. Rest breaks at service areas are not counted in the 206-minute estimate. Departures between 22:00 and 06:00 are subject to a 20 percent night rate, and a round-trip booking receives a 5 percent discount.

The starting price of 330 EUR is per vehicle, not per person, and includes the highway, bridge and toll fees, luggage and the driver's waiting time. If you want a same-day round trip, the driver waits at your destination in Canakkale and brings you back the same day; the waiting time and the return leg are added to the booking as a separate return leg, with the round-trip discount applied. Stops at the Gallipoli battlefields or at Troy can be requested in the reservation note, and waiting time for those stops is calculated separately. Canakkale is the provincial centre on the Anatolian side of the Dardanelles, and the 1915 battlefields of the Gallipoli Peninsula (Anzac Cove, Arıburnu, Conkbayırı and the Canakkale Martyrs' Memorial) are on the opposite shore, reached via Eceabat; Anzac Cove is about a 15-minute drive from Eceabat, and a ferry runs between Canakkale and Eceabat. The ancient city of Troy, a UNESCO site since 1998, is about 30 km from the city centre in the village of Tevfikiye, and the Troy Museum opened in 2018. Hotels in Canakkale are along the Kordon waterfront and in the centre.

Alternatives to a private transfer are limited: no intercity bus leaves Istanbul Airport, so you would first take the Havaist bus or the M11 metro into the city and then board a bus at Esenler or Alibeyköy bus station, which with transfers can double the total travel time. Anzac Day, on 25 April, draws a dawn service at the Anzac Commemorative Site near Anzac Cove (North Beach); visitors usually arrive a day earlier and move to the site on the evening of 24 April, and Canakkale and Eceabat hotels fill months in advance for that week.
