Sabiha Gökçen is on the Asian side and therefore closer to Şile, Yalova, Sapanca and Bursa; Istanbul Airport on the European side is the shorter road to Edirne and Çanakkale. The road from Istanbul to Yalova crosses the Gulf of İzmit on the Osmangazi Bridge (opened 1 July 2016, 2,682 m); the road to Çanakkale runs on the Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway and the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge opened on 18 March 2022 (2,023 m main span, the longest-span suspension bridge in the world), so no ferry is needed; Edirne is reached on the O-3 European Motorway and Şile via the Northern Marmara Motorway and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.
