Private Chauffeur Hire in Turkey: How It Differs From Car Rental and Taxis, Hourly or Daily, and What a Quote Should Include (2026)

Private chauffeur hire means renting a car together with a professional driver for a block of time: a few hours, a full day, a week or a whole season. What you are booking is not a single route but time, so the stops, the waiting and the order of the day stay yours to decide. That is the practical difference from a taxi, which is priced trip by trip, and from a self-drive rental, where the fuel, the parking, the damage liability and the card deposit all sit with you. This guide covers what chauffeur hire includes, who it makes sense for, how to choose between hourly and daily, who pays for fuel and tolls, which vehicle classes exist and what to check before you book.

What is private chauffeur hire? A car and a driver together, by the hour or by the day

Private chauffeur hire is renting a vehicle together with its driver for an agreed period. The subject of the contract is time, not a route: four hours, one day, a week or a season. During that period the car and the driver work to your plan, and you decide the stops, the waiting and the order in which you take them.

The service includes the vehicle, the driver, fuel, insurance and maintenance. All you provide is the schedule. The driver knows the car and the area, deals with parking and waits while you are out of the vehicle, which is why the real saving on a business trip or a multi-stop day is time and attention rather than money.

GET4S offers this as a service in its own right: a car and a driver reserved together for companies, event organisers and anyone who needs a prestige vehicle with a driver for a few hours or for a whole season. The scope and the enquiry route are on www.get4s.com/en/services/ozel-soforlu-arac-kiralama.

How is it different from car rental and from a taxi?

What separates the three services is where the responsibility sits.

In self-drive rental the car is handed to you, and the driving, the damage liability, the fuel, the parking and any fines are yours, with a deposit blocked on your card and the car to be returned to the branch. In Turkey this field has its own new framework: the Ministry of Trade regulation on the renting of motor land vehicles was published in the Official Gazette on 15 August 2026 and takes effect on 1 January 2027, defining short-term rental as up to 29 days to the same renter and requiring rental businesses to hold an authorisation certificate.

Chauffeur hire is a transport service instead: the operator's car, the operator's driver, the operator's liability. No deposit, no damage risk, no hunting for a parking space in a city you do not know, no question about whether your licence is valid abroad.

A taxi also comes with a driver, but it is a single trip at a price you only learn at the end; the meter runs on the road, waiting and the return leg are charged separately, and you cannot hold the same car all day. With chauffeur hire the same car and the same driver stay with you for the whole period, the price is agreed beforehand and waiting sits inside the hours you booked.

Who does it make sense for? Business travel, events, weddings, multi-stop days, families and first-time visitors

Chauffeur hire makes sense whenever the schedule matters more than the journey.

Business travel: three meetings, two districts and waiting in between means the car can sit outside instead of being ordered again each time, and your documents and laptop can stay in the vehicle. When a meeting overruns, no meter is running.

Events and weddings: the couple's car, meeting guests and moving people from hotel to venue are all planned by the hour. The GET4S fleet includes a chauffeured stretch limousine for weddings and celebrations, with the price given on request.

Multi-stop day trips: with three or four places to see in a day, finding a new car at every stop costs both time and money.

Families with older relatives or small children: with luggage, a pushchair and child seats, one door-to-door vehicle is simply the easiest answer.

Visitors who do not know Turkey: driving without knowing the traffic, the parking rules or the language is the hard way to do it. GET4S drivers speak English. Vehicle classes are compared on www.get4s.com/en/fleet.

Hourly or daily? And the driver's working and rest hours

The rule of thumb is simple: a city programme with a clear start and finish is hourly, while a programme that fills the day or leaves the city is daily.

Hourly hire fits jobs of four to six hours: an airport meeting plus two appointments, an evening at an event, a shopping and dinner run. Most operators apply a minimum, so ask what it is when you request the quote.

Daily hire normally means a shift of eight to ten hours and is the only sensible option on intercity routes. If the shift is exceeded an overtime rate applies, and you should have that hourly figure written into the contract.

The driver's rest is both a safety and a legal question. Turkey's traffic regulation bars drivers of commercial passenger vehicles with a capacity of more than nine people including the driver from driving more than nine hours in total, or four and a half hours without a break, in any 24 hour period; a break of at least 45 minutes is compulsory after four and a half hours of continuous driving, and 11 hours of uninterrupted rest is required in each 24 hours. A six-seat minivan or a saloon car is not covered by that article, so on long days it is up to you to have the shift and the break plan written into the contract. If the programme runs past 12 hours, ask for a second driver or split the day.

Fuel, tolls and price: what is included, what is not, and how a quote works

Asking for chauffeur hire as a single number is misleading; what matters is which items that number contains. When you request a quote, ask about five things one by one: fuel, bridge and motorway tolls, parking, the driver's accommodation and meals away from base, and the overtime rate if the shift runs over. On a fixed-price point-to-point transfer all of these are inside the price. On time-based hire it varies by operator and by route.

GET4S does not publish a fixed hourly or daily rate for chauffeur hire on the site: the price is quoted against the duration, the vehicle class and the route. Send the programme through www.get4s.com/en/contact or WhatsApp and a price usually comes back within a few minutes. For the top classes such as the S-Class and the stretch limousine the price is given on request anyway, which is reasonable: without the hours and the route, no meaningful list price exists for those cars.

Point-to-point transfers are the opposite: the figure is known in advance, it is per vehicle, and meet and greet plus tolls are included. Dalaman Airport to Fethiye starts at €75, Istanbul Airport to Taksim at €69 and Antalya Airport to Side at €81. Those are starting fares for the six-seat VIP Mercedes Vito and rise with the vehicle class, and the current figure is shown on the route page, for example www.get4s.com/en/transfers/istanbul-taksim-transfer. If your plan is one route, book a transfer; if it is scattered across the day, chauffeur hire works out better.

Vehicle classes: which car for which job

The choice starts with passengers and luggage, then shifts with the nature of the job.

The VIP Mercedes Vito carries six passengers and six bags and is the most balanced class for business travel and families. The Maybach VIP Vito has the same capacity but adds captain seats, a starlight headliner and ambient lighting, which is built for hosting and events.

The First Class Mercedes S-Class takes three passengers and two bags and is the usual pick for executive pickups, signing ceremonies and short city programmes, with the price on request.

For larger groups the Luxury Minibus, a VIP Sprinter with leather seating, carries 12 passengers and the Economy Minibus carries 16. For weddings and celebrations there is a separate class: a chauffeured stretch limousine for eight.

Two practical notes. Luggage counts as much as seats, so with golf bags, a pushchair or large suitcases go one class up. And child seats have to be requested at booking; they are not kept in the car as standard. Every class and its capacity is listed on www.get4s.com/en/fleet.

How to book and what to check: licence, insurance, contract

A booking opens with three pieces of information: the date and time, the pickup point plus a rough outline of the programme, and the number of passengers and bags. At GET4S the enquiry goes through www.get4s.com/en/services/ozel-soforlu-arac-kiralama or www.get4s.com/en/booking. If an airport meeting is involved, include the flight number so the driver can track the flight and the pickup moves automatically on a delay.

When choosing an operator, ask about three things.

The licence: carrying passengers commercially with a driver falls under Turkey's road transport law and regulation, and the certificate used for domestic non-scheduled group passenger transport, meaning transport without a fixed line and timetable set in advance, is the D2. Ask to see the operator's transport licence and, on the travel side, its TÜRSAB registration. GET4S trades as BİZZ TURİZM LTD under TÜRSAB licence 14225.

Insurance: commercial passenger transport requires the compulsory passenger seat personal accident insurance, and a vehicle without it may not carry passengers. The cover is calculated per seat and its tariff is updated from time to time, so confirm that the policy is current.

The contract: the duration, the shift, the overtime rate, the cancellation terms and the included items should all be in writing. A verbal deal turns into an argument at the end of the day. Once the programme is settled, get written confirmation through www.get4s.com/en/contact.
