There is no direct bus from İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) to Çeşme; the fastest way is by car, covering the 100 km motorway route in 70–80 minutes. A taxi costs €90–110 for the trip, while a pre-booked private transfer is a fixed €70–85.
If budget comes first, public transport works too — but it means a change in the city centre and 2.5–3.5 hours in total. This guide walks through every option step by step, with separate sections for Alaçatı, İzmir city, Kuşadası and Ephesus.
The route at a glance
ADB sits about 18 km south of İzmir; Çeşme lies at the western tip of the bay, at the end of the İzmir–Çeşme motorway (O-32). Leaving the airport, the car joins the ring road and then the motorway; the only real slowdown along the way is the Balçova toll plaza on summer Saturdays.
The total distance is about 100 km, done in 70–80 minutes under normal conditions. Travellers headed to Alaçatı leave the motorway one exit earlier — that route is roughly 90 km and takes 65–75 minutes.
Public transport: cheap, but with a change in the city
From the İZBAN station beneath the terminal, a commuter train reaches the city in about 25 minutes for less than €1. Çeşme coaches, however, depart from the terminal at Üçkuyular (Fahrettin Altay), which means a metro or tram connection after the train. The Üçkuyular–Çeşme leg takes about 1.5 hours, with departures every 15–30 minutes in season and tickets at €4–6.
All in, allow 2.5–3.5 hours door to door and €8–12 per person. It makes sense for a solo traveller with a small bag; for a family hauling suitcases, three separate vehicles is tiring in practice.
Taxi or private transfer?
An airport taxi to Çeşme usually lands between €90 and €110 on the meter; Alaçatı, being slightly closer, runs €85–100. The price depends on traffic and routing, and there is no guarantee of a car for the return leg.
With a pre-booked private transfer the price is locked at booking: €70–85 to Çeşme, €65–80 to Alaçatı. The driver tracks your flight, meets you with a name board and drops you at the hotel door.
